Headshots vs. Personal Branding Photos

Headshots are close up photos of a person’s face. They are most typically used for social media, dating site profiles, the “about us” or “meet the team” pages of corporate websites, or for promoting an actor, model or author’s career, art or services. Headshots focus on the face (and not the body) with less emphasis on environmental background or style of clothes the subject is wearing. Headshots are meant to be basic and straightforward, offering the viewer a simple yet essential photo of your face. They are increasingly vital in the 21st century world of commerce, art, career, and romance.

Personal branding photos are images that are more carefully crafted and diverse, allowing for more elements to be incorporated into the shoot (including shots of your entire body, not just your face) that may also include different changes of clothing, various accessories, backgrounds, and settings.
