I’m a Boulder family photographer with more than 20 years experience documenting families in an organic, comfortable, and natural way. My style is relaxed and unobtrusive and my clients tell me that I’m great at making them feel at ease. I’m also told that I’m great with children (having a couple of them myself helps a little, I think 🙂
I love family photos that are genuine and emotional as opposed to artificial-feeling or overly posed. I also love spontaneous moments. Decisive moments. Unscripted moments that burst with authenticity.
I love laughter and natural smiles. I’m okay with tears too. Playfulness and silliness can be pretty wonderful too but so too can a soft glance or meaningful embrace. As for locations, front porches are great. Backyards rule. The local park or nearby open space are pretty nice too.
The important thing is for you to feel comfortable with me and allow me to capture you as you interact with one another. Anyone can fake a smile for the camera for a few seconds while somebody snaps some shots. I will seek to do much more than that during our photo session. I aim to capture truly meaningful and memorable moments of you and your loved ones to have to enjoy both in the near future and decades from now in the far future.
I work with a number of families that use me as their own documentarian of sorts, capturing big and small moments over the course of years or even decades. In fact, I’ve captured a client’s maternity and newborn photos only to then document the growth and passage of time for these families annually or bi-annually until I find myself training my camera on their graduating senior 17 years later, capturing her on the cusp of adulthood, ready to fly the nest and take on the world. It’s wild!
